Our Beginning
Messerli & Kramer was founded in 1965 and has a long history of serving the business community in a variety of areas. From its inception, our practice has included real estate, estate planning, general business, and business litigation. In the mid 1970s, we added a collections practice and, in the late 1980s, became a founding member of AACA (American Alliance of Creditor Attorneys; www.aacanet.com). The early 1970s also marked the entrance of our attorneys into the field of government relations, representing our clients' interests before the Minnesota State Legislature and other governmental entities. As that practice thrived, we opened a second office in St. Paul. In 2000, our continued growth prompted the addition of a third location in Plymouth, where our Collections department resides and in early 2010 we added a fourth location in the Milwaukee area.

As our practices grew, so did the services we offered our clients. In the 1980s, it became clear that we were focusing on serving the business community and the individuals that made those businesses a success. The firm took on the shape of a business itself through its organizational structure. Our unique departments and practice areas exemplify our entrepreneurial nature—helping us grow, provide unique services, and differentiate ourselves in a competitive market. We had successfully created a unique and successful environment, and it also helped us attract well-rounded professionals who wanted a non-traditional law firm culture.

Today Messerli & Kramer consists of eleven practice areas in three unique—yet complementary—divisions. We have a collection of practice areas that serve the needs of business today, as well as practice areas dedicated to families and individuals. In each, we provide our clients with an opportunity to hire not just an attorney, but a dedicated legal team.
