Not every case can be a success in the courtroom, and family law cases are among the most frequently appealed. Appellate advocacy poses unique challenges requiring deep expertise, creativity, and meticulous attention to detail; success on an appeal should not be taken for granted.

Messerli Kramer’s family appellate team appreciates the complexities of appellate work and has successfully represented clients in dozens of appeals before Minnesota’s appellate courts. Our Family Law group has been involved in some of Minnesota’s landmark appellate decisions on issues from child support to third-party custody to property division. Our attorneys have also leant their experience as “friends of the court” on amicus briefs submitted by the Minnesota State Bar Association and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Collectively, our appellate lawyers have litigated more than fifty cases before Minnesota’s Court of Appeals and ten case before Minnesota’s Supreme Court. Our attorneys are admitted before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, and several of Minnesota’s tribal appellate courts.
